These buns are very versatile. The basic recipe without the spices is plain. It is similar to an english muffin when toasted. You can experiment with spices and use whatever ones you might prefer. The garlic and rosemary work well but I am a garlic fan so I might be partial to it.

These can be frozen so you can make a batch or two and always have them on hand. You will use them for burger buns or just as bread to eat with your meal. When they are plain I love to put peanut butter and jelly on them.

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
  2. Melt the lard. Let cool slightly. Add the eggs to the lard but make sure the lard is not hot.(You do not want scrambled eggs.) Blend in a blender for 15 seconds. Add the dry ingredients and pulse until the ingredients are completely mixed.
  3. Pour into jumbo silicone muffin pan.(Silcone works well but a metal one would work. Be sure to spray the metal one with cooking spray.)
  4. Bake in preheated oven for approximately 26 minutes.(If using metal pan check after 20 minutes.) Remove from oven and let cool.
