Shawarma is a traditional meal that is normally cooked on a rotisserie and shaved to order. Obviously this not served that way. It is also not served in the traditional way with some kind of bread. The chicken can be grilled but cooking in the oven still gives it a wonderful flavor. The spices and sauce give it a nice Middle Eastern touch.

Instructions

  1. Mix all the ingredients for the chicken in a medium sized bowl. Place the chicken in the bowl. Let sit for at least 2 hours. It is preferable to marinade overnight.
  2. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  3. Place chicken in a casserole dish. Cook in oven for 18 minutes.(Chicken can also be cooked on a grill.)
  4. Remove the chicken from the oven and let rest.
  5. Mix the ingredients for the sauce in a bowl. Stir until smooth.
  6. Slice the chicken and pour the sauce over the top. Can be served with cauliflower rice as a side.
